| The Matrix Wars is an enjoyable game but suffers from its developers' lack of experience in game design. There are many balance issues present throughout the game which result in making it a good distraction for five or ten minutes a day, but certainly not anything worth devoting a lot of time to.
The game pits humans versus machines as in the Matrix films and works on a turn-based setup, with turns being used to attack other players. One of the more interesting aspects of the game is its market, where prices of items vary dependant upon how many are up for sale. Though as with many other features in the game, it shows promise but suffers from a lack of balance, resulting in only one type of commodity being worth buying.
I reached the top 40 of the game rankings inside one month and found myself having far less fun than I did at the mid-ranks. This was due to design issues again, with the penalties for having a large army making it ineffective to do anything but sit still and gaze at your ranking.
A fun time-waster that shows promise, but needs someone with more experience at the helm to truely flourish. |
